Frequently asked questions
If your question is not answered here, try the support page or write to us directly.
Is Zikir Vakti free?
Yes. Every spiritual module — the Qur’an, dhikr, supplications, prayer times, qibla, catechism, hadith, khatm and tracking — is free and ad-supported. Paid plans only raise the AI quota and remove advertising.
Can I use it without an account?
Reading, counting dhikr, prayer times and the qibla need no account. Community features such as khatm, study circles, condolence records, the supplication workshop and cross-device sync require one.
Does it work offline?
Largely, yes. The base mushaf, translations you have downloaded, the catechism, the hadith collection, litany texts and your daily records are stored on the device. Prayer times display offline if they were fetched earlier. Community features and AI need a connection.
Where do the prayer times come from?
Times are taken primarily from data sourced from the Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). If that source cannot be reached, the app falls back to local astronomical calculation. The source in use is indicated inside the app.
Do I have to grant location access?
No. Location is requested only to calculate prayer times and the qibla automatically. If you decline, you can select your city manually and the app still works fully.
My device has no compass. How do I find the qibla?
The app detects whether a magnetometer is present. If there is none, or readings are unreliable, the live compass is hidden and four alternatives are offered: sun-and-shadow alignment, a qibla ray on the map, walking with GPS heading, and a manual north dial.
How are Qur’an translations selected?
The catalogue merges AlQuran Cloud, the Fawaz CDN, Quran Foundation and Quranpedia, and is limited to translations in the Sunni tradition. You choose which one to read in settings, and you can download any of them for offline use.
Are there ads on the Qur’an screens?
No. Mushaf, verse and tafsir screens never show advertising. This applies to free users as well.
Are the AI answers fatwas?
No. Generated text is informational and is not a fatwa. In catechism question answering, the response is produced only from the catechism text, and the headings used are listed beneath the answer. For a binding ruling, consult a qualified scholar.
Where is my data stored?
Your preferences and offline content stay on your device. Account information and synced records are stored on Appwrite cloud infrastructure. The data collection disclosure has the details.
Is my data sold?
No. Your personal data is never sold or transferred to third parties for marketing. Data is shared only with the infrastructure providers that run the service, and only as far as the service requires. The full list is in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
Follow the steps on the account deletion page and send the request from your registered email address. Once verified, your account and associated data are deleted or anonymised within thirty days.
If I uninstall the app, is my account deleted?
No. Uninstalling only clears the data on your device. To remove your account on the server you need to send a request from the account deletion page.
Is there an iOS version?
Only the Android version is published at the moment, distributed through Google Play. There is no announced release date for iOS.
Is there smartwatch support?
Yes. There is a separate Wear OS app with a tasbih counter driven by touch and the rotating bezel, prayer times, and tile and complication support. The counter stays in sync with the phone.
Notifications are not arriving. What should I check?
First confirm the reminder is enabled in the app’s notification settings. Then check that Android has granted the app notification permission and that it is exempt from battery optimisation. Prayer time notifications also need either location access or a manually selected city.
